Rudolf needs reining in

Another triumph at Eden Park, that’s the best way to describe this year’s Auckland Christmas lunch of the Cerebral Palsy Society, which was held last Sunday (December 4th). 208 members gathered together to cause havoc, in the nicest possible way of course. There was plenty of good cheer and merriment as wine glasses chimed to confirm all the great achievements of the year, with the promise of even better things to come.

The celebrations were disrupted by the man himself. The guy in the red suit, who always seems to turn up around this time of year, bearing presents for the kids. This time he had company. A strange looking creature called Rudolf. This furry, or was it woolly creature, didn’t look too well.

In fact it was rumoured that he was out on the town with Trevor Freeman the night before, but at least he was entertaining. Rudolf even tried to give member’s manager Janet Chapman a kiss. Mind you Janet did deserve some reward after all her hard work arranging the whole show. However it needs to be said that Santa must rein in his mate in the future.

It was disappointing to hear Santa saying that the goody-goody list for the adult members of the society was sooooo small that he lost it, so he had no choice but to reveal all the not so good things our members got up to during the year. Obviously we will have to improve our behaviour for 2012.

It was good to see life member Jocelyn Burgess make an appearance as she hasn’t been too well lately. All the best Jocelyn we hope the festive occasion brightened your day.

The lunch turned out to be another great occasion which was undoubtedly enjoyed by all. Roll on 2012.
