Touchdown, from Heathrow to Auckland International airport, I
was back from my trip to Europe. Four days later my feet still had
not touched the ground before I was off again, thermals in hand.
Christchurch was my destination, this time, for the annual Cerebral
Palsy Society brunch. One would think after travelling from the
other side of the world my fears of flying would have been put to
rest.
Not true! With all the rain in Auckland the runway was rather slippery.
The take off from Auckland took a lean to the left and then to the
right. |

With fists clenched and breathing technique in place it seemed
like forever until we corrected and lifted, Phew! What a relief.
It was all worth it. What a great turnout for the Christchurch
Brunch. Seventy-four people attended; a real buzz to see so many
people, along with new members, and the growing number of children
and young adults. The weather couldn’t have been better considering
the cold snap that the south island was having.
There were no formalities at the brunch, everyone just kicked back
and enjoyed the atmosphere, delicious food, a few drinks and catching
up with other members. The choice of food was extensive, so it was
difficult not to have a taste of everything twice and of cause there
were the desserts. The buffet lunch certainly created a bit of fun
and laughter for the younger ones, eager to help themselves. There
were certainly a few healthy appetites around the tables.
