Their stories unfold

“The World in Focus” promises to be a terrific experience of cabaret and comedy. The production is put on by the Focus 2000 drama group and supported by the Cerebral Palsy Society. The performance is on Saturday 29th November ’08 (6.30pm -9.30pm) at the Corban’s Estate, Mau Theatre. Tickets $20 each (CP members $10).

The concept of “The World in Focus” was sparked by the very enthusiastic and popular Focus drama group, directed by Paula Crimmens. After a few months the group grew in confidence and gradually talk of putting on a more informal presentation gained momentum. A common theme emerged amongst the core group of how art had become a central part in their lives. They wanted to somehow convey its significance.

Soon the talk was over and the action begun. Rehearsals were full of ideas on how to impress upon the audience, feelings, which expressed released freedom, when painting.

The strong theme of art and painting and people wanting to communicate the experience of painting was refined. The ideas evolved from there. Anthony's poems were adapted for the stage and so were Marilyn’s books of writing. Early on it was clear that Lynette was the most natural storyteller. Often humorous always entertaining, Lynette needed space to tell her tales.

The end result is a kaleidoscope of entertainment including comedy, classical guitar, a silent art auction and the actor’s short films.
