The Society announces the launching of its
“getStructured” programme, a programme that
locks in good legal structures, surrounding a person with
cerebral palsy. Parents will be financially assisted to
set up a legal framework, (i.e. wills, power of attorney,
trusts, etc), around a member with cerebral palsy, to ensure
that future eventualities are considered and planned for.
There are two separate components to the “getStructured”
programme
:Component 1: For families that presently
have no wills, power of attorney, etc., the Society plans
to contribute 80% (up to a |
maximum of $780 incl. GST) of a lawyer’s bill to set up
such a structure. The proviso is that the beneficiaries of such
a structure must include someone who has cerebral palsy and is
a member of the Society. The above funding will be a “once
only” grant.
Component 2: For families that have already
set up a legal structure that benefits a member with cerebral
palsy, a ‘once every 5 years’ grant will be available
for reviewing and altering this legal structure to ensure its
appropriateness. This grant contributes 80% (up to a maximum of
$280 incl. GST) of the lawyer’s bill for this service. The
same proviso applies as in component 1.
The Process : The parents identify the lawyer
they wish to use. (The lawyer must be a member of the Regional
Law Society or NZ Law Society.) The parents fill out the application
form to participate in this programme and forward it to the Society.
If approved, the Society will send a letter of guarantee to the
lawyer. This letter gives the lawyer authority to bill the Society
as previously specified, as well as requesting a statement from
the lawyer confirming that a member of the Society, with cerebral
palsy, is a beneficiary.

Midwinter Xmas brunch at Denny’s Family restaurant is on
the menu, in Christchurch, on Sunday 9th November 08. Members
are invited to “gettogether “at 11am to enjoy a meal
subsidised by the Society.
Due to limited space numbers are restricted to people with CP
and one other to accompany them, on a first in basis.
Each person will be asked to contribute $5 to the society on
arrival at Denny’s. This will go towards your meal costs
The Society will subsidise the balance of the total order per
person, up to the value of $15.
Denny’s management have suggested that orders are taken
from the breakfast menu, sandwiches/ burgers menu or kids menu
(These menus offer a wide range of choices)
It would be great if everyone can arrive as close as possible
to 11am as Denny’s do not take bookings and we want to ensure
our group sits together.
So come along and be a part of a pleasant afternoon activity
in the garden city.
